SpaceX Secures $40 Billion Financing Deal for Data Center Hardware

SpaceX has entered into a binding commitment with an entity managed by Apollo Global Management to finance the acquisition of high-end graphics-processing units and data center infrastructure. The arrangement, valued at approximately $40 billion, marks a significant push by Elon Musk’s firm to expand its computational capabilities over the coming years.

SpaceX Secures $40 Billion Financing Deal for Data Center Hardware

The agreement outlines a leasing structure where the Apollo-managed entity will purchase the necessary hardware and lease it back to SpaceX. The company plans to settle the aggregate principal through quarterly payments spanning roughly five years. While the exact interest rate remains under negotiation, payments will cover one-twentieth of the equipment cost per quarter alongside interest charges and supplementary expenses.

Hardware deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. SpaceX anticipates finalizing the master finance lease before the end of this year, provided that remaining closing conditions are met. This financing strategy allows the aerospace firm to scale its data center operations without an immediate upfront capital expenditure, tying the investment directly to the lifecycle of the specialized processing units.
