Femsa Profit Climbs 81% on Strong Oxxo and Beverage Performance

A surge in customer traffic at Oxxo convenience stores and robust gains from its Coca-Cola Femsa division propelled Fomento Economico Mexicano to a net profit of 10.57 billion pesos for the third quarter. The 81% year-over-year increase reflects a broader operational expansion despite a softening consumer landscape in Mexico.

Femsa Profit Climbs 81% on Strong Oxxo and Beverage Performance

The company’s revenue climbed 9.8% to 235.61 billion pesos, while adjusted EBITDA rose 13% to 34.83 billion pesos. Growth was bolstered by a foreign exchange gain and the absence of losses from discontinued operations that had weighed on the previous year's results. Oxxo Mexico saw its strongest traffic increase in over two years, with same-store sales rising 9.2% as the average ticket grew by 5.5%.

Coca-Cola Femsa reported an 11% revenue increase and a 15% jump in operating profit, supported by a 5.3% rise in sales volume. The Americas & Mobility division, encompassing international Oxxo locations and fuel stations, saw revenue grow 18%. Despite these gains, Chief Executive Jose Antonio Fernández Garza-Lagüera cautioned that the firm faces a demanding comparison base ahead, citing recent economic volatility in Brazil and a sluggish consumer environment in its home market.
