Revenue climbed to $2.94 billion for the quarter, comfortably outpacing the $2.75 billion forecast by analysts. This 10% year-over-year increase translated into net income of $436 million, a significant jump from the $179 million reported during the same period last year. Adjusted earnings reached $1.77 per share, far exceeding the $1.27 consensus estimate.
The Salix segment, which houses the company's gastroenterology portfolio, served as the primary engine for this growth, reporting a 16% revenue increase to $831 million. The aesthetic-focused Solta division also contributed with an 18% revenue rise, reaching $165 million. International operations added to the momentum, growing 5% to $299 million.
Management responded to these results by lifting its full-year revenue outlook to a range of $10.98 billion to $11.18 billion. Expectations for adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were similarly revised upward, now projected between $4.32 billion and $4.42 billion.
