DBS Earnings Preview: Analysts Anticipate Marginal Profit Dip

Singapore’s largest lender, DBS Group, is projected to report a 0.7% decline in third-quarter net profit to 2.93 billion Singapore dollars when it unveils results this Thursday. Despite this potential dip, total income is expected to climb 2.7% to 6.09 billion Singapore dollars compared to the same period last year.

DBS Earnings Preview: Analysts Anticipate Marginal Profit Dip

The bank's performance arrives on the heels of a strong quarter for its stock, which surged 18.5% to hit record highs. Analysts at Jefferies suggest that while noninterest income remains resilient, the gains were likely tempered by normalizing fees and a cooling in market-related revenue. Maybank Securities analyst Thilan Wickramasinghe noted that higher bond yields and softer equity conditions have likely created negative momentum for trading income.

Investors are shifting their focus toward the bank's wealth management division, a critical growth engine as DBS pushes to reach 1 trillion Singapore dollars in assets under management. Beyond current quarterly figures, market participants are scrutinizing the bank's 2026 and 2027 outlook. The stock has faced a recent pullback alongside peers Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. and United Overseas Bank, reflecting broader investor anxiety regarding potential earnings headwinds across the regional banking sector.
