The service removes the traditional constraints of banking hours, enabling corporate treasurers and digital asset firms to settle transactions in real time. By leveraging the bank’s proprietary blockchain alongside the HKMA’s EnsembleTX, the system facilitates direct movement of funds between participating institutions while remaining within the established commercial banking framework. Early adopters China AMC, Finloop, and PantherTrade have already completed live transactions involving tokenized money market funds.
To bridge the gap between legacy finance and digital assets, Standard Chartered has partnered with infrastructure provider Fireblocks, allowing clients to access banking services directly through their existing digital asset platforms. HashKey has also joined the ecosystem, signaling a broader push to incorporate crypto-native businesses into institutional workflows. According to Mary Huen, CEO for Hong Kong, Greater China, and North Asia, the bank intends to scale these tokenized offerings to additional markets as part of a wider strategy to modernize cross-border liquidity and treasury management.
