The integration addresses a critical gap in decentralized finance, where collateralized lending often stalled during traditional market closures. By adopting Chainlink’s continuous data service, Aave Horizon can now derive asset values from high-volume perpetual futures markets when standard trading sessions are inactive. According to Aave founder Stani Kulechov, this transition ensures reliable collateral management regardless of the calendar.
To maintain stability, the system incorporates safeguards to filter out price outliers and prevent faulty valuations from triggering liquidations. When traditional markets open, the feed seamlessly reverts to standard pricing. This mechanism supports Aave Horizon’s specialized environment for institutional and qualified participants, who use permissioned real-world assets to access stablecoin liquidity. Borrowers within this framework must adhere to strict collateralization ratios, with liquidation protocols automatically activated if thresholds are breached. While these new equity feeds enhance liquidity access, they complement existing safeguards developed by Aave and LlamaRisk to manage asset valuation risks across the protocol's diverse range of tokenized holdings.
