Mike Flaum predicts 2027 Bitcoin high as cycle theories fracture

The traditional four-year Bitcoin cycle is effectively dead, according to Log Scale Investments CEO Mike Flaum. In an October interview, the executive dismissed the relevance of halving-based timelines, forecasting that the digital asset will shatter its all-time high in 2027 regardless of historical patterns that once dictated market movements.

Flaum’s outlook arrives as major financial institutions diverge on whether the cryptocurrency has truly shaken off the volatility of 2026. While some analysts cling to historical data, others are pivoting toward macroeconomic indicators to explain current price action. Galaxy Research, for instance, has shifted its stance, noting that Bitcoin successfully reclaimed its 50-week moving average in October, signaling a transition into an accumulation phase that suggests the bear market concluded in June.

Contrasting views persist among institutional players. Fidelity Digital Assets maintains a cautious outlook, suggesting that while momentum and profitability indicators show improvement, the market remains caught between a sustained recovery and a lingering downturn. Chris Kuiper, vice president of research at Fidelity, argues that adoption waves and long-term holding patterns provide more utility than attempting to time market bottoms. Meanwhile, Grayscale research head Zach Pandl advocates for focusing on interest rates and economic growth rather than the halving calendar. Pandl contends that Bitcoin now tracks the same economic forces influencing traditional assets, making the Federal Reserve's policy trajectory a far more reliable barometer for future performance than dated cycle theories.
