Jazz Pharmaceuticals and AbCellera Target Solid Tumors in $876 Million Deal

AbCellera will spearhead discovery and preclinical research for three initial programs, with the third project slated to launch within the next 12 months. Jazz holds the exclusive option to secure global development and commercialization rights for each program as they mature. The financial structure includes $84 million in upfront payments, with the potential for AbCellera to earn up to $792 million per program tied to development, regulatory, and commercial sales milestones.

Beyond milestone payments, the agreement grants AbCellera tiered royalties on net sales, ranging from mid-single digits to low double digits. The contract also provides for the potential expansion of the partnership by two additional programs. Under the terms, AbCellera retains the capacity to conduct investigational new drug-enabling studies and manage the manufacturing of clinical supplies, ensuring the company remains deeply involved throughout the drug development lifecycle.
