Andre Cronje Exits Sonic Labs Board Amid Token Price Slide

A sharp decline in the S token’s market value has triggered a sweeping management overhaul at Sonic Labs, with former CTO Andre Cronje, Michael Kong, and David Richardson stepping down from the board to make way for a new leadership team and a revised governance structure.

Andre Cronje Exits Sonic Labs Board Amid Token Price Slide

The resignations follow mounting pressure from investors as the S token continues a prolonged downward trend, having shed roughly 97% of its value since the network’s January 2025 launch. In a public statement, Cronje distanced himself from the project's controversial tokenomics and migration strategy, asserting that while he stands by the technical architecture he developed, he held no decision-making authority over the financial and management policies currently drawing community ire.

Sonic Labs is attempting to stabilize its position by appointing Matt Visser as CEO and Kosta Kourkoumelis as COO. The company acknowledged that both token performance and community sentiment have reached critical lows. To address these concerns, the organization plans to implement a new governance framework, including a dedicated risk and compliance committee, aimed at increasing transparency and communication. Despite these structural changes, market indicators remain bleak; the S token is trading near $0.029, with technical patterns suggesting sustained bearish momentum as the asset struggles to find support above its recent lows.
