Charles Hoskinson defends AI integration amid Cardano community backlash

A synthetic influencer post on Input Output’s X account has ignited a debate within the Cardano community, prompting founder Charles Hoskinson to clarify that the initiative was an experimental push for the Midnight City project rather than an attempt to replace human communication or mislead the ecosystem’s participants.

Charles Hoskinson defends AI integration amid Cardano community backlash

Hoskinson addressed the criticism in his June 20 post titled “AI Slop, IOG X, and the Future of Marketing,” asserting that the company intends to leverage autonomous agents to manage the scaling challenges of a growing user base. He argued that as the network expands, human teams alone will struggle to handle community tasks, media updates, and the broad broadcasting requirements of Midnight City.

Midnight City operates as an interactive simulation where autonomous agents perform tasks, trade, and generate economic activity. The platform serves as a testing ground for zero-knowledge technology and selective disclosure, aiming to balance data privacy with regulatory compliance. Beyond its technical utility, Hoskinson envisions these tools evolving into AI-driven marketing systems capable of managing complex affiliate relationships and agentic trading. This strategy remains a cornerstone of the network's development, even as Cardano faces significant market headwinds, with the ADA token recently dipping to $0.16.
