Ripple Secures Preliminary Luxembourg License for EU Expansion

Ripple has moved closer to full European compliance after receiving a preliminary Crypto Asset Service Provider license from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. The approval, granted via a green light letter, marks a strategic step in the company’s effort to deploy its payment infrastructure across the entire European Economic Area.

The pending authorization allows Ripple to integrate its cryptoasset and stablecoin tools for banks and fintechs across 30 countries. Once finalized, the CASP license will operate alongside the company’s existing Electronic Money Institution license, enabling a unified, regulated platform for collection, exchange, and payout functions. Ripple currently claims over $100 billion in processed payment volume across 60 global markets, providing a foundation for this broader European rollout.

Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s managing director for the UK and Europe, noted that the Markets in Crypto Assets framework is driving institutional adoption by moving financial infrastructure on-chain. This regulatory shift includes settlement, collateral management, and tokenized assets. Following recent approvals in the United Kingdom, where the firm secured an EMI license and cryptoasset registration earlier this year, Ripple now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses worldwide. The company must still satisfy final conditions set by Luxembourg regulators before the license becomes fully operational.
