SecondFi targets two-week window for $2.4M Cardano recovery

As the platform works to restore user assets, engineers are testing multiple recovery routes with a target completion date set for early July.

SecondFi targets two-week window for $2.4M Cardano recovery

The project’s roadmap focuses on an internal two-week recovery timeline, a window established after forensic reviews confirmed a path to restoration. To secure remaining funds, SecondFi has moved 129 million ADA to an independent third-party custodian. By early next week, the team plans to release a verification tool allowing users to confirm if their specific wallet was among those compromised in the June 21-23 breach.

Technical analysis from Tibane Labs suggests the vulnerability originated from an unaudited third-party SDK, which replaced EMURGO’s original signing code on June 8. While EMURGO CEO Phillip Pon indicated that a recovery system is currently in development, independent researchers like Taylor Monahan have criticized the project for implementing custom cryptographic solutions. As the investigation continues, SecondFi is urging users to remain vigilant against phishing attempts and fake support accounts. The platform strictly advises against moving assets or signing new transactions until official, verified tools are released.
