Cheesecake Factory Profit Surges on Menu Innovation and Traffic

Cheesecake Factory posted a sharp rise in second-quarter profit to $68.4 million, outpacing market expectations as a wave of new menu items and targeted marketing campaigns lured more diners to its tables, signaling a strong performance that defied the stagnation currently plaguing much of the casual dining sector.

The restaurant operator reported earnings of $1.41 per share, comfortably beating the $1.18 consensus forecast from analysts polled by FactSet. Revenue climbed to $1.03 billion, up from $955.8 million during the same period last year, while comparable restaurant sales grew by 5.8%. Chief Executive David Overton credited the gains to a strategy centered on rewards programs and a commitment to menu development, noting that the chain is currently outperforming its competitors in both traffic and sales.

Expansion remains a core pillar of the company's fiscal strategy. After opening four new locations during the second quarter, the brand is maintaining a steady pace of growth with plans to launch as many as 26 new restaurants by the end of the fiscal year.
