Hyperliquid HYPE Token Slips Below $55 Amid HIP-4 Testnet Launch

A whale movement toward major exchanges and a broader market downturn have pushed the HYPE token below the $55 support level. This decline coincides with Hyperliquid launching its HIP-4 prediction-market framework on testnet, as the platform attempts to challenge established competitors like Polymarket and Kalshi.

Hyperliquid HYPE Token Slips Below $55 Amid HIP-4 Testnet Launch

The HIP-4 framework introduces permissionless deployments, enabling developers to build and test prediction markets directly on the Hyperliquid testnet. While current activity remains modest—reporting roughly $182,000 in open interest and $881,000 in notional trading volume—the platform envisions a future where event contracts span beyond sports to include economic data and election outcomes.

Market sentiment currently remains cautious. Data from Lookonchain revealed a significant holder offloading 1.02 million HYPE tokens to FalconX and Coinbase Prime, fueling speculation of incoming sell pressure. This on-chain activity, combined with Bitcoin’s retreat below $64,000, has overshadowed the technical milestone of the HIP-4 deployment. As Hyperliquid prepares for a eventual mainnet launch, it faces the dual challenge of scaling its infrastructure while navigating a tightening regulatory environment, specifically regarding the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s evolving standards for event contracts.
