BitMart shifts course toward restructuring and potential restart

Less than four weeks after announcing a total wind-down, BitMart has signaled a potential pivot toward a phased operational restart and creditor distributions. The exchange has appointed White & Case as restructuring counsel, though it has yet to provide concrete details on payout eligibility or the legal framework governing these recoveries.

BitMart shifts course toward restructuring and potential restart

The exchange’s latest disclosure leaves its original shutdown timeline largely intact. Trading is still scheduled to cease on August 26 at 01:00 UTC, and the platform’s final closure remains set for January 31, 2027. While BitMart stated it is exploring an orderly resumption of services, the firm emphasized that no formal plan has been launched or approved. The appointment of White & Case does not confirm that the company has entered bankruptcy or any court-supervised process, and no official case filings have been made public.

Questions regarding the scope of the restructuring persist. BitMart has not clarified why customer balances might be treated as creditor claims rather than standard withdrawals, nor has it released data on reserve levels or recovery percentages. The exchange expects to provide a more comprehensive roadmap by September 9. Until then, users remain in a state of uncertainty as to whether the restructuring offers a viable path forward or merely delays the platform's eventual termination. Meanwhile, the exchange's native token, BMX, continues to struggle, trading near $0.06 after shedding roughly 80% of its value over the past month.
