Wyoming Shifts Frontier Stable Token to Chainlink CCIP

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has finalized the migration of its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. This transition, effective August 18, follows a state-led security review that raised specific concerns regarding LayerZero’s disclosure practices and internal operational controls.

Executive Director Anthony Apollo stated that the commission evaluated various systems before selecting CCIP, citing its redundant validation and built-in risk management as the only solution meeting the state’s institutional requirements. Chainlink’s protocol utilizes at least 16 independent node operators for transaction verification, a structure the commission deemed superior for protecting the state-issued asset. Holders of FRNT are not required to take manual action, as the commission manages the backend switch across the eight currently supported blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, and Base.

This migration follows broader industry scrutiny regarding LayerZero’s security architecture, amplified by high-profile incidents elsewhere in the ecosystem. While Wyoming’s FRNT holds a market capitalization under $1 million, it carries unique significance as the first fully reserved stable token issued by a U.S. public entity. Income generated from the token’s reserves is directed toward Wyoming’s School Foundation Program. While LayerZero officials noted they are assisting with the transition, the state has yet to release the full documentation of its security audit, leaving the specific technical details of the deprecation process to be clarified in future official notices.
